At the Founders Day Service 2008, I met Peter Duncan at Westminster Abbey and decided to raise money to help provide clean water to children who do not have any. 208 children die every hour through lack of clean water. On April 19th 2008, I am going to swim 1 km to raise money for fresh water. The
most I have ever swam is 800 metre, so I am going to try my very best! Please help me, donate below.

If I raise:
£42.0040 children, like me, can have clean water in Ethiopia
£34.00I can help provide a toilet for children in Zimbabwe. I could not imagine not having a toilet - ever!
£17.00I can help provide 200 feet of water pipe so children do not have to walk so far.
£9.00A tap to make collecting water easier, and I can buy one of those for just £9. Sponsor me 25p a length and I can buy one of these...

10 Year Old Meets Chief Scout!Jacob Renouf from 9th Lymington Sea Scout Group met Chief Scout Peter Duncan at Westminster Abbey in London at the Founders Day Service.
As a 10 year old, I bravely approached the Chief Scout at the Abbey entrance and handed him my group’s badges. I explained that my Scout Leader had suggested that we were photographed together, and Peter Duncan agreed to a quick photo, much to my surprise.
Founders Day celebration is around Baden Powell's birthday, which is on the 22nd February. It is when scouts all over the world give thanks for Scouting.
Skip, my scout leader, had set me a challenge to meet Peter Duncan, give him our scout group badges and to plan some of the route around London. I thought this would be impossible, but much to my delight I had the chance to him to meet him at Westminster Abbey.
This year the service had a water theme and during the service I found out that 208 children die every hour due to water pollution. That made me feel really sad. I felt it was really unfair that we had clean water in this country and other children didn’t.
At Sea Scouts water is very important. Through scouting, I will get to try all sorts of water activities, from swimming to sailing, as well as enjoying water, using it to cook with and drinking it.
At Cubs I achieved my Chief Scout Silver Award, which involved working for on my Global Challenge, during which I found out about water charities and how to help children without clean fresh water.
I was surprised the Westminster Abbey Church service had the same theme, and I have decided that I should try and do my best to make a difference and help more people have access to clean water.
At home I am going to make sure I turn the tap off when I clean my teeth and when I wash my hands, but I also would like to try and raise some money to help provide clean water.
Clean, safe water is essential for life. Oxfam, World Vision and Pump Aid aims to have clean and safe water near to all villages in the world so that women and children do not have to walk for hours to get dirty water, and instead they have access to clean, safe water close to their homes, which means their lives, can be saved.I would like to be able to provide clean water for at least 40 people, and a toilet.
As I can not imagine my own life without fresh clean water and a toilet. I have decided to do my best to make a difference by doing a sponsored swim for 1,000 meters to raise £42 to provide 40 people with clean water so that children and adults do not get sick and are less likely to die of dirty water, and a further £34 to provide a toilet.
Please can you help me by donating online at www.renouf.co.uk/Jacob.htm Meeting the Chief Scout made me feel that I want to make a difference.
I would love to be able to raise £352.00...
